Bookings are now being taken for On Location art workshops to be held over the weekend of May 26 and 27 as part of this year's Open Studios program.

On the second-last weekend of the Open Studios program, full-day fine art and craft workshops hosted by renowned Scenic Rim artists will be on offer around the region at various locations between Mount Alford and Beechmont.

Events will feature natural textile dyeing, printmaking and painting with the following work-shops available to book:

Nature's Bounty: Saturday May 26 with Wendy Trulson, Beechmont Community Centre.

Cost: $60 + $20, materials fee

Experience the essence of the natural print and resist dyeing on silk and wool cloth. Learn the process of imparting colour and marks from leaves and flowers onto cloth and thread.

Paddock to Painting: Saturday May 26 with Felicity Smith, the Old Butter Factory, Boonah

Cost: $60 + $20 materials fee

Learn the basics of mixing a palette, blocking-in, sight-sizing and starting the creation of a still-life masterpiece while taking a look into the art of Australian impressionist painting.

Papercuts and Printmaking: Sunday May 27 with Sally Hart, Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm, Mount Alford.

Cost: $60 + $20 materials fee

Produce a small journal of ideas and drawings throughout an introduction to cutting stencils, paper cutting and mixed-media printmaking.

With many of this year's workshops already booked to capacity, artists are urging those interested in participating to reserve their booking before Friday May 18  to avoid missing out.

Following these workshops, the final weekend of Open Studios will culminate with pop-up studios in Canungra and Beechmont over the weekend of June 2 and 3. Look for the red flags, which will mark the location of artists Dave Groom and Kelly Lindsay.

Details of all studios and workshops, maps and regional events are presented in the Studios & Events booklet available from all Scenic Rim Regional Council customer service centres, libraries, cultural centres and visitor information centres.
