THE first meeting to kick off Kooralbyn Neighbourhood Watch is set to bring police and community members together to discuss crime issues.
The event will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 7.30pm at Ramada Resort Kooralbyn.
Police have announced the committee members will be Daniel McMahon as area coordinator, Michael Ham as secretary, Michael Hoggett as treasurer and Kenneth Marsh as media representative.
Senior Constable Richard Ellis said there were several benefits of having a Neighbourhood Watch in the area.
“The aim is to build community cohesion and improve relationships between neighbours which assists in reducing crime and the fear of crime,” he said.
“It also encourages greater community participation through improved communication and improves relationships between the Queensland Police Service and community.”
Mr Ellis said the group would help increase the community’s ability to deal with local crime and community safety issues.
