COMMUNITY feedback shaped the design of the Mount Lindesay Highway/Beaudesert Road/Logan Motorway interchange, which is currently under construction.

Transurban Queensland project manager Andrew Baker said the upgraded interchange, part of Transurban Queensland’s $512 million Logan Enhancement Project, would feature nine bridges, two fauna crossings and nine ramps.

“Once completed, the upgraded interchange will improve safety by eliminating the weaving and merging that currently exists,” he said.

“And with about 40 per cent of traffic bypassing the interchange with the new overpass, it will provide significant capacity, efficiency and travel time improvements on this section of the motorway.”

Mr Baker appealed to motorists to obey reduced speed limits and other signage during construction for the safety of road workers and other road users.

Transurban Queensland group executive Sue Johnson said the interchange would include an overpass for motorists travelling northbound on Mount Lindesay Highway to access the Logan Motorway eastbound.

Ms Johnson said the underpass from Beaudesert Road southbound to the Logan Motorway westbound,

would take about 10 months to construct.

“Once complete it will provide a safer free-flowing movement for motorists – it’s a great outcome for the local community,” she said.

Ms Johnson said the construction was complex and required the closure from February 5 of the right turn from Beaudesert Road onto the Logan Motorway heading towards Ipswich.

“With the temporary closure of the current right-hand turn, motorists wishing to travel onto the Logan Motorway towards Ipswich will continue through the interchange onto Mount Lindesay Highway, detour via the Brown Plains exit and complete a u-turn manoeuvre under the Johnson Road interchange, before travelling north on Mount Lindesay Highway, exiting onto the Logan Motorway westbound,” she said.

“Once complete, the new interchange will include an overpass for motorists travelling northbound on Mt Lindesay Highway to access the Logan Motorway eastbound,” she said.

The Logan Enhancement Project also includes upgrades to the Wembley Road/Logan Motorway interchange and construction of south-facing ramps on the Gateway Extension Motorway at Compton Road.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-2019.
