Competition is heating up for the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas decoration contest.
Chamber president Kelvin Marks said the project had gained activity almost as soon as the contest was opened, with several businesses already having posted photos of their efforts online.
“The competition kicked off on December 1 and will run until December 18,” he said.
“We have asked businesses to send photos of their Christmas display to be posted on our Facebook page.”
Mr Marks said the business with the most Facebook likes at 5pm on December 18 will receive a $250 gift voucher, donated by MP Jon Krause and second place would receive a Christmas Hamper, donated by Bizpal Services.
“Customers who participate will also go into the draw to win a Christmas ham,” he said.
“This is something the Chamber gets involved with every year, and while last year was a success I think this year will be even better.
Mr Marks said there would also be a President’s Choice Award, with the winner earning a year’s free membership to the Chamber of Commerce.
“I will be going for a walk around town in the next week or so to decide the winner,” he said.
He said the competition would heat up in the coming week as businesses engage in a bit of friendly rivalry.
“The competition is a way for local businesses to join in the spirit of Christmas,” he said.
“It’s also a way for them to celebrate the end of a good year.”
