The season may be over but members at the Beaudesert Boxing Club are still training hard.

Champions in the making, Brayden Piper and Matari Rayward, both aged nine said they had taken part in minor exhibitions and earned a few medals this year.

“But next year we will be having real fights,” Brayden said.

“I’m looking forward to that because I love boxing and the best bit is the punching.”

Boxing coach Justin O’Leary said the boys would be ready for their first fights when the season started up again in February.

“Brayden grew up around boxing. His dad was a pro boxer,” he said.

“At the moment we’re off-season but the bigger kids still train every day after school and the little ones train four times a week.”
