The Beaudesert Tennis Club has been successful in promoting the sport to local youngsters and is now inviting women of all ages and abilities to give tennis a try.
Club publicity officer, Myleigh Taylor said there seemed to be a lack of healthy activities available for mums in Beaudesert after school drop-off time, so the club had started social Monday morning tennis.
“When people think of tennis, they often think you have to know how to play before you turn up but that’s not the case,” she said.
Ms Taylor said the Beaudesert Tennis Club had been former winners of the Tom Ferguson Shield and hoped to regain the title in 2018.
“But we would like women to come down and just have a hit for fun and a bit of exercise, even if they’ve never played or if it’s been a few years since they played.
‘The great thing about tennis is you can play it forever, so we even have older ladies who enjoy the game.
“And it’s cheap, it only costs five dollars for non-members.”
Ms Taylor said the club also held cardio tennis on Wednesdays at 5.15pm and Fridays at 4.15 pm.
