DESPITE having to postpone their annual Star Party due to cloudy weather, the Scenic Rim Astronomy Association are eager to set up their telescopes, cameras and model rockets this weekend.
The highly anticipated event will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 3pm at the old Laravale State School on Christmas Creek Road.
Guests will enjoy telescope viewings, a meteorite display, astronomy talks as well as radio astronomy and a photography workshop.
Scenic Rim Astronomy Association president Mark Lohmann said the group has ramped up the event with more activities after last year’s successful party.

“This time, the set up will be really different because we want the event to be more sociable and interactive,” he said.
“We want people to come in, set up a blanket and have look at the viewings and chat to us without having any hurry to leave.”
