BEAUDESERT Hardware is celebrating 50 years in business.

The business, started by Franklin brothers Roy, Donald and Stuart, has been an integral part of the town since it opened in 1964.

Plenty has changed over the years for Beaudesert Hardware, which has been a Mitre 10 branded store since 1976.

Beaudesert Hardware manager Clint Spence has worked at the business since he was 17 and said a willingness to embrace change helped it to reach the milestone.

“Back in the ‘60s they had a vision to build a business that could support the community and that vision is presented today, 50 years later,” Mr Spence said.

“I’ve been here for 37 years and I’ve clearly seen the business grow and expand in that time, I only started as a young fellow at 17 and have been part of the growth of the business in that 50 year period.

“That’s what I like so much about it, it continues to change.”

Mr Spence said Beaudesert Hardware had a loyal customer and employee base, with staff working an average of six to eight years.

Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce president Michael Enright said Beaudesert Hardware had given plenty back to the local community over the years.

“On behalf of the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce, I would sincerely like to congratulate the owners, management and staff of the Beaudesert Hardware on their remarkable achievement of 50 years of serving the Beaudesert community,” Mr Enright said.

“While many aspects of business have changed over the last 50 years, particularly in recent times in retail business, there are some essential core principles that Beaudesert Hardware have maintained throughout their 50 years.”
