Beaudesert and District Tennis Club will hold the pennant tournament on November 17 and 18.

Several members will be defending their titles, including Nick Thorpe, who has won the men’s singles pennant three years in a row.

Mr Thorpe, who is also a full time tennis coach, said he was looking forward to the competition.

“I’ve been playing tennis since I was eight-years-old, so that’s 12 years now,” he said.

“I coach about 80 kids at various levels and I also take the cardio fitness classes on Friday afternoons for whoever shows up for a bit of fun and fitness.”

Mr Thorpe said he coached ANZ Hotshots, a fun-based program designed to help children of all ages and ability to increase their fitness, learn to play tennis and improve their sporting ability as well as learning vital social skills.

“The competition next weekend should be good, with myself and a few others defending titles from last year,” he said.

“The adult competition will start on Friday.

“The junior tournament for children from all levels including red, orange and green will start at 8am on Saturday.

“Then we will have the finals for the adults from 5pm on Saturday.”

The pennant tournament is at the Beaudesert Tennis Club at 44 Bromelton Street.
