GARDENERS, pollinators and bee enthusiasts will swarm to an event hosted by Gold Coast Amateur Beekeepers Society next month.

The society’s open day will be held on Sunday, October 15 from 9am to 2pm at Mudgeeraba Showground.

GCABS aims to educate visitors about the benefits bees have on the environment and teach them about bees, beekeeping and the honey production.

There will be market stalls selling various items, including the sale of beekeeping equipment, guest speaker presentations and information sessions.

Entertainment will include a game of cricket on the oval, a raffle prize and honey and baking contests.

An inter-club trophy competition will also be judged by two special guests.

A barbecue lunch and drinks will be available on the day.

There will be a gold coin entry fee.

Those wishing to enter hive products and baked goods can go to the BCABS’ Facebook page.
