Beaudesert Rifle Club has been operating from its current site in Tabragalba since 1965.
The club has produced some of Australia’s most successful champion shooters, and this year has seen members hit all the right targets in national and international competitions.
Beaudesert Rifle Club president Mike Samuels and club member Mike Willment were among 16 long range rifle shooters selected to represent Australia in the recent World F Class Championship competition.
The highly contested event is held every four years in Canada.
Mr Samuels said the Aussie shooters were initially considered the underdogs but proved their worth on the rifle range and emerged victorious.
“Australia came second in the FTR (Farquarson Target Rifle) event but not by much, even though the U.S team didn’t see us as serious contenders,” Mr Samuels said.
The Australian team finished less than one shot behind the US team, scoring 3394 to the Americans’ final score of 3400.
In the F open event competitors shoot rifles of any calibre up to 8mm with a telescopic sight, and this is where Australia scored gold.
“This year was tthe second time in a row we’ve won this event so we came home world champions after back-to-back win,” Mr Samuels said.

Beaudesert Rifle Club captain Lee Robinson recently wore the green and gold for Australia in South Africa, where he helped our antional rifle team achieve second place.
Mr Robinson has also earned himself a spot on the development squad for the Australian Rifle team heading to the 2019 Palma match to be held in New Zealand.
The Palma match, also known as the World Championship of Long Range Rifle Shooting, is the oldest and one of the most prestigious events on the international shooting calendar.
Mr Samuels said Beaudesert Rifle Club also had one the largest numbers of junior members and as well as more female members than any other club in the region.
“We have some up-and-coming champions on the way and our female shooters have proven themselves in recent competitions,” he said.
“In fact our female shooters have shown in recent competition that their shooting skills match and often exceed the abilities of the majority of male members.”
