JANICE Tonges helped to make Beaudesert Golf Club history when she joined two other members in scoring a hole-in-one on the greens last month.

Ms Tonges, who is president of the club’s veterans branch, hit the coveted ace in an individual competition, with the result also scored by members Daniel Leck and Brian Mahoney.

“Three people scored holes-in-one and that’s a big deal in golf,” she said.

Mrs Tonges said she attributed her golfing luck to the club’s new blue-coloured polo which she wore on the day.

While it was the second time she had achieved the top hit, Ms Tonges said it was the first time she had scored the hole-in-one in a competition.

“Everybody congratulates you,” she said.

Ms Tonges said she wanted to thank Beaudesert-based company Aussie Born for printing the club’s shirts, which have been embossed with a golf ball dimple pattern.

“We are very happy with the outcome,” she said.

“(The shirt has) a design, featuring deep shades of blue, with clouds and lightning striking a golf ball.

“The shirt also features the club emblem of a coastal banksia on the sleeve.”
