Beaudesert Show Society hosts south-east showgirl competition

Mudgeeraba Show Miss Showgirl 2017 Jessica Cummings has been sashed as the south-east Queensland sub chamber Miss Showgirl at the sub chamber judging event at Beaudesert on Sunday, July 16.

Miss Cummings will now represent the south-east sub chamber, which includes the Beaudesert Show Society, in the Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl 2017 competition at this year’s Ekka.

“I’ve come up against two lovely and deserving showgirls and I’m very shocked to have won the sub chamber,” Miss Cummings said.

“I’ll have to come and visit the Beaudesert Show in September.”

Beaudesert Show Miss Showgirl 2016 Emily Robinson and Gold Coast Show Miss Showgirl 2016 Tani Stubbs along with Miss Cummings were judged by Vanessa Bull and Doug and Maureen Reiser on their general knowledge about state and agricultural issues, their public speaking skills and their professionalism.

Mr Reiser announced the judges had made an “unusual decision” to give a joint runner up sash to Miss Robinson and Miss Stubbs as the judge’s individual scores were tied.

South-east Queensland sub chamber president David Wilson said Miss Cummings would be a wonderful ambassador for the region.

Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl 2016 Kait Shultz said she wished Miss Cummings the best of luck for the next stage.

Beaudesert Show will be held on September 8 and 9.
