Following the adoption of the 2017 budget in council’s chambers, mayor Greg Christensen hosted more than 100 community representatives at The Centre to discuss the financial outlook of the region.

Kevin Turnbull from SCT Logistics informed the room that more than 8500 tonnes of freight was being moved from Bromelton a week and the company had employed more than 50 local applicants.

Simon Eldridge from the Australian Rail Track Corporation gave an update on the proposed inland rail line from Calvert to Kagaru and how that would benefit the region.

Cr Christensen then took questions from the audience including a long back and forth with farmer Warren Drydan about council’s ongoing issues with poultry farm approvals.
