Beaudesert Kingfishers match reports

Round 4 saw the Australian Modular Homes Reserve Grade play Ormeau on Sunday and take away a convincing win of 62 - 12.

It was a big day for the Kingfishers but also for the Gee family with all 3 Gee brothers taking the field together for the first time. Coached by their father Keith Gee - Charlie, Alex and Sam certainly didn't disappoint the crowd.

The Kingies were in form from the kick off. The first half started with Jayde Williams crossing over in the first 2 minutes.

Ormeau ran the ball up hard and put the Kingies defence on notice scoring a few minutes later. The Kingies lifted their intensity and maintained it for the rest of the game.

Beaudesert lead 22 -12 at half time. The second half didn't lose any intensity and the big hits kept coming. The Kingies managed to build pressure by hanging onto the ball despite showery weather and ran away to a 62 -12 win.

Try scorers for the day were Nick Harkin, Jayde Williams, Nathan MacKenzie. Brendan MacKenzie along with Sam, Alex & Charlie Gee all scored doubles. Nick Harkin kicked 9 conversions. Next Saturday the boys take on Runaway Bay at home.

Beaudesert Gelita under 16's traveled to Helensvale Friday night. The first half was full of uncompleted sets allowing Helensvale to have a majority of ball possession.

They were able to race out to a 24 points to nil lead. With good lead up work just before half time Clinton Williams crashed over to score Beaudesert's first try, converted by Arran Davies.

The second half was again riddled with errors letting Helensvale improve their lead 42 points to 6 and just before full time Ben Smith scooted through a gap and reached out to score under the post, converted by Arran Davies. Final score Helensvale 42 Beaudesert 12.

The score doesn't reflect the effort all the players put in on the night and also a big thanks to the under 15's Jason, Lachie, Cooper and Ryan for backing up to help the Gelita under 16's.

Under 15s

Beaudesert Gelita under 15s won Friday night 22 to 20 in the last minute of the game at Helensvale.

The first half saw Jacob Currie score the first try for Beaudesert when he snuck in beside the post which made it easy for Jason Smith to convert.

Takashi (Tuck) Mears took a catch from a kick off and made a great 60 m dash down field, then off loaded to Jason then onto Lachlan Nugent who backed up brilliantly.

Half-time had Beaudesert trailing 16 to 6. A try by Cooper Garnett and converted by Jason started a second half fight back.

A set play from a penalty in front of the posts put Beau Best in for a try in the left corner. In the dying minutes a penalty to Beaudesert in front of the posts gave Faifili (Fili) Roberts the opportunity to make a huge push through the defence and score under the post to level the scores at 20-all.

This gave Jason the opportunity to convert and win the game 22 to 20 in the last minute.

Man of the match went to Lachlan Nugent for his powerful hit ups and relentless tackling.

Josh Hughes had a great night at full back taking a number of high balls under pressure in the slippery conditions.

Cooper Garnett, Lochie Green, Jason Smith and Ryan Archibald then backed and played up in the following match to support the under 16s to show the passion and team spirit they have for their club and sport.
