Beaudesert junior footballer Beau Frazer has shown grit and determination beyond his years to earn selection in the South Coast 11 years team.

Frazer played for the Pacific Rim side at this week’s regional trials at Runaway Bay, with his performances at the carnival standing out to selectors.

The Beaudesert State School student will now travel to Bundaberg in July for the Queensland Championships against the best junior players from around the state.

Frazer’s mother Melissa said she was incredibly proud of the ‘sensational’ way he played during the carnival.

“He was sick with a stomach bug on the first day and still played so well, in fact he probably had his best game when he was ill,” she said.

“He pulled off a really big tackle and really gave it his all which made us all so proud.”

The 11-year-old, who plays his club football with the Kingfishers, was one of four players picked from the Pacific Rim team which includes the Beenleigh, Jimboomba, Emmaus and Ormeau regions.

“The other three boys picked were all from Beenleigh, so to be the only boy from this part of the world picked is a great effort,” Ms Frazer said.

“He will now go and train every Monday with the team in Coomera so that will be great for his growth both as a footy player and a person.”

Ms Frazer said while Beau was usually a shy and reserved sort of kid, but his selection had brought

“We’ve had a lot of people send their congratulations or stopped us in the shops to say well done which is great for him.”

Ms Frazer said Beau, who usually plays in the forwards, is a massive Gold Coast Titans fan and hopes to one day play for the NRL team.

“If you asked him what he wants to do when he gets older he would definitely say play for the Titans,” Ms Frazer said.

“And with curly hair like his it is no surprise that Kevin Proctor is his favourite player.”
