The Beaudesert and District Little Athletics Club has capped another successful year with some outstanding performances at the recent State Championships.

Held at the Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre in Brisbane, athletes from the club brought home five gold, three silver and four bronze medals from the weekend’s events.

Track superstar Riley Day completed her little athletics career with gold in the girls under 100 (11.88s) and 200 (24.56s) metre events.

It is the final time the under 17 sprinter will compete for the club as she moves into the senior ranks.

Despite losing such a talented athlete in Day, the future of the club still looks bright.

Emily Olders showed she has the potential to be a star of the future and collected a gold, silver and bronze medal across the course of the weekend.

The under 11 athlete won the high jump, placed second in the 800 metre run and was third in the 1500 metres event.

Caitlyn Hannigan again put her rivals on notice in the 1500 metre walk event, taking gold ahead of next week’s national junior championships.

Hannigan’s sister Tess showed the natural talent for walking was a family trait taking silver in the under 11 event.
