Fishers from around south-east Queensland visited the Scenic Rim on the weekend to take part in the annual Carp and Tilapia Eradication Competition.
Logan and Albert Fish Management Association president Mark Ward said while the weather forecast was not kind, a great day was had by all.
“The threat of rain kept numbers down but it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of those competing and the weather actually turned out perfect for the event,” he said.
Mr Ward said everyone present enjoyed the day with a large number of kayaks on the water and anglers on the banks of the dam.
“We even had Channel Seven’s Creek to Coast program present to take some footage and were well received by everyone present.”
More than 1500 Tilapia and 30 Carp were caught during the competition.
“Interestingly every year more Tilapia and less Carp are being caught in the dam,” Mr Ward said.
“It was also great to see the excitement on the children's faces when they reeled in the big one or received a prize.”
