A Beaudesert and District Rugby League team will reunite, almost 60 years after they won the premiership.
The Tancred Tigers football team reunion will be held on April 1, from 11am at Beaudesert RSL.
The grand final team will be awarded a bronze medallion, an award and a photograph of the team.
Special guest Greg Veivers will attend on behalf of his father Jack, who was the coach of the victorious Tigers outfit.
Organiser Bob King said he was eager to see the team together for what could be the last reunion.
“Time has taken a toll on our football team and it’s just nice to get together with who is left to remember the good old times and to celebrate the premiership back in 1960,” he said.
“Those players who were in the team but are no longer with us, we would ask their nearest relatives to come along to receive the awards and to retain them for their family proudly.”
Mr King said the gathering would be an opportunity to thank the Beaudesert community and the team for their longlasting friendship.
He said winning the premiership was an experience he would never forget, crediting the fighting spirit of the team and the words of their inspirational coach Jack Veivers as being integral to victory.
“We did it for ourselves and thank Jack for instilling that spirit in us,” he said.
