THE parents of an eight-year-old Kooralbyn boy who died suddenly from a severe asthma attack in July have told of their heartache in a bid to raise community awareness of the seriousness of asthma.
Kooralbyn boy Bryn Epiha, the eldest son of Corina and Basil, passed away suddenly on July 2 between 1pm and 2pm.
According to Mr Epiha, his son was “just a normal kid” with a passion for the outdoors and there was no real indication as to the severity of the asthma attack that would claim Bryn’s life.
“He went to the toilet and vomited and came back on the nebuliser and a couple of seconds after he had come back out I saw him collapse,” he said.
“It was very fast and the good thing was that he wasn’t in pain, he wasn’t aware of it and it was just a quick death.”
Mr Epiha said the severity of the attack was even more of a shock because Bryn, who had previously been diagnosed as a severe asthmatic, had experiencedfewer attacks this season than in previous years.
