The talented young performers will transform the school hall into a computer game wonderland as they take on characters from Lara Croft to Super Mario. A total of 130 students, including 30 backstage and hair and make-up crew, have followed an intensive rehearsal since March. The dedicated students have committed to practices twice a week as well as sacrificing three full days in the school holidays and all of their public holidays. Head of Arts Cassie Littlemore, who coordinates Rock Eisteddfod at the school, said this year’s theme was an exploration of the computer game world. “I’m hoping everyone will see something that brings back a memory of childhood,” she said. Ms Littlemore said the students were gearing up for a high-energy performance at their school, but the main event was worth going to. “The sneak peek is nothing compared with the real thing,” she said. “The kids’ energy out at Boondall is just amazing with the lights and the atmosphere. “I encourage everyone to come along to the sneak peek as well as book their tickets for the main event.” The community sneak peek will be held on July 21, at 6.30pm in the school hall at Beaudesert High School. A gold coin donation will be collected at the door, with proceeds going towards the Grantham flood victims. The students will take the stage at Rock Eisteddfod in Brisbane on August 5. |
